Looking back on 2015
Dear Focus Travelers All,
Talk about time speeding by! I absolutely cannot believe that it is all but time to send you Happy 2016 greetings! I hope you all revel in a splendiferous Christmas Season! I shared many travel adventures in 2015 with Focus travelers. Each one was so interesting, and so much fun, that I truly cannot say which I loved the most. I especially loved sharing each of them with you.
Focus’s 2015 travels began with an Oceania cruise through the Panama Canal. Talk about fascinating! We also visited ports in Colombia, Guatemala, Nicaragua Costa Rica and Mexico as well as Key West. As always, an Oceania cruise ship was a wonderful way to travel! Then, in late August a Focus group visited Michigan. Highlights included the Edsel Ford estate, the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village, and two marvelous days at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island as well as forays into the UP.
In October, we were off to explore Sicily! What a fantastic experience! We all fell in love with Sicily! Our Italian adventure continued with a two day visit to the isle of Capri – where we discovered that luggage had been lost/delayed for 12 of our number!! It took several days for it to be found and delivered. Needless to say – this necessitated lots of clothes shopping for the 12. Happily, Janet Simmons helped everyone to fill out and submit insurance forms and I believe that restitution has been made! Hooray! From Capri we went on to the Amalfi coast for a few days. Then it was home for some and on to Rome for three days for others. An incredible and memorable trip!
In late September Focus did a Return to Cuba trip! Several of us who had been on the 2014 Cuba tour returned on the 2015 tour. We saw many positive changes including much more evidence of private ownership, town squares with wi fi access and crowded with young people all intent on their I phones, and wide-spread plans for renovation of beautiful old buildings. As we found on our previous trip, the Cuban people are exceptionally warm and welcoming and our week was filled with a wide variety of interesting excursions and discoveries.
A second USA tour for 2015 which overlaps into 2016 is a trip to California’s Rose Parade. Many exciting things are on our itinerary and our group is looking forward like mad.
The 2016 Focus Travel Adventures are going to be both wondrous and memorable.
Many Focus Folks have already signed up and are looking forward to them! We still have space on both the Greek Isles tour in mid-May and on the Rhone River cruise in late July. Let me know if you want to join either of these. What grand travel adventurers both will be! In 2016 Focus will also be doing two USA tours: California Wine, Rail and Redwoods in September and Williamsburg and historic environs in early December. In addition, Tumlare and Focus already have plans for 2017 in the works! All will be unveiled at the February Blowout on Saturday, February 27. Mark your calendars now and plan to come! I hope you will find a tour you simply cannot resist.
This time of year is always filled for me with wonderful memories of times shared with friends. I look forward to making many more in the year ahead. I hope all of you have a wonderful Holiday season and that 2016 is filled to overflowing with prosperity, love, and, of course, Focus Travel Club Tours!
Warmly,
